1) Free Computers for Persons with a Disability
Do you have a disability? Are you in need of a free computer? The Jim Mullen Foundation provides free computers for people who have a disability. The organization specializes in providing computers for anybody especially for those individuals who think that they are unable to use one. 2) SSA Conducts an Initial Evaluation of Ticket to Work
The Social Security Administration has released an evaluation of the Ticket to Work program (TTW). The TTW enables eligible Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income disability beneficiaries to find work through a network of providers. The evaluation found that traditional providers believe Ticket incentives are insufficient. They also expressed concerns about documenting earnings, devoting extensive amounts of time providing information to beneficiaries about TTW, and maintaining individuals in employment for extended periods. To now, most providers are accepting few, if any, Tickets. Reasons include: lack of up-front funding within the EN payment systems; the high cost of screening beneficiaries; discomfort with the low level of risk-sharing within the payment systems; believing the value of payments to be low relative to payments from other sources; and lack of capacity to serve significant nu mbers of Ticket holders.
