1) Updated booklet on Financial and Future Planning from ARC online
The Arc of the United States has updated their guide designed to provide insights to families on personal, financial, and legal protections for children with cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities after the death of their parents or when they are no longer in a position to provide care or support. This excellent resource is available online. Visit www.thearc.org   to view   A Family Handbook on Future Planning .

2) Does your child need assistive technology?
Here is a list of valuable resources that you will want to check out. Washington Assistive Technology Alliance, http://www.wata.org , Funds, available to everyone. Special Education Technology Center, http://www.cwu.edu/~setc , State Needs Project through Superintendent of Public Instruction, focus on school-aged individuals/needs. Washington Assistive Technology Foundation, www.watf.org , funding for assistive technology, non-profit.

3) Safety Net of Tangled Web? A report of programs and services for Adults with disabilities from The Urban Institute - By David Wittenburg and Melissa Favreault
This report describes 15 major public programs serving low-income, non-elderly adults with disabilities. The authors conclude that the safety net for low-income adults with disabilities is more like a tangled web of conflicting goals and gaps in needed services. Opportunities for temporary cash, training, and rehabilitation support are especially limited for disabled adults with limited work histories and/or who experienced their disability outside of work. SSI, a permanent cash benefit program that could likely lead to a lifetime of program participation, is the primary option for these adults. The authors discuss promising policy options that take a more coordinated approach in serving the complex needs of adults with disabilities. www.urban.org/url.cfm?ID=900667

4) TASH is pleased to announce two new series of Telephone Conferences

Please forward this information to any listserves or colleagues that you think may have an interest.   These exciting sessions take place over the telephone! You can call in from home, work, or on the road! Only one telephone line may dial in per registrant. You can register as an individual or as a site. If you register as a site and have access to a speakerphone, or have the ability to do internal conferencing, you may have as many participants as you would like listening to the session, and you will also receive an   audiotape of the session as well! If you are interested in a topic but cannot participate at the scheduled time, just register anyway and dial in to listen to a replay of the session at your convenience! The topics are listed below.
