1) Dare to Dream Revised – A Guide to Planning Your Future is a workbook for transitioning students and adults to aid in planning their future. It contains many checklists and activities to assist in future planning. It is produced by the Florida Department of Education. 2) How Young People Can Benefit from One-Stop Centers: Information Brief. This pamphlet explains the Workforce Investment Act and how One-Stop Centers provide resources for young people with disabilities. 3) The National Health Law Program- has a web site dedicated to helping consumers get the most out of their healthcare. It provides information about everything from coping with emergencies, choosing a doctor or hospital, to dealing with denied claims. www.healthcarecoach.com
4) AbleData provides information about assistive technology products and rehabilitation equipment. AbleData classifies products in the ABLEDATA database of assistive technology by each product's intended function or any special features it possesses. The products are classified in 19 areas. Clicking on a topic will link you to a list of the major categories within that topic, from which you can see the list of specific product types in that category. 5) Medicaid Reference Desk Update We are looking for stories from people with cognitive disabilities and family members about how they have used Medicaid to increase their independence. We will collect written and recorded stories for use on www.theDesk.info, the only web site that explains Medicaid for people with cognitive disabilities. If we use your story, you will receive a free T-Shirt and $50. If you have a story send an email message to stories@thedesk.info or call toll-free at 1-877-431-8532.
If you know someone else who has a story, forward this message to them or tell them about it. We are especially interested in stories from Hispanic families, for presentation in Spanish.

The Medicaid Reference Desk is an online resource at www.TheDesk.info that explains Medicaid in basic terms, state by state. It gives people with cognitive disabilities, family members and advocates information about what is available through their State Medicaid Plans and waivers. The site also gives information on where to apply for services. We explain each Medicaid service in ordinary language. People can see and hear the information rather than read it. So far, there are about 3,000 recordings on the site.
