1) MEDICARE: Outreach Toolkit for Medicare Drug Coverage Now Available. CMS has developed an Outreach Toolkit designed to equip community organizations with the materials needed to provide information and assistance to their clients on the Medicare prescription drug coverage. The toolkit - www.cms.hhs.gov/partnerships/tools/materials/medicaretraining/MPDCoutreachkit.asp   is developed with basic, straightforward information that can be easily conveyed to beneficiaries.

2) New Parent Briefs from the National Center on Secondary Education and Transition - National Center for Secondary Education and Transition (NCSET) Parent Briefs provide parents and families information on a wide range of topics addressing secondary education and transition. The following new Parent Briefs are produced by NCSET in collaboration with PACER Center.

Universal Design for Learning and the Transition to a More Challenging Academic Curriculum: Making it in Middle School and Beyond http://www.ncset.org/publications/viewdesc.asp?id=2165 (April 2005)  This brief describes universal design, a process for creating environments that support the learning of students with diverse abilities, styles, and needs. In universal design, versatility is built into the environment from the start. Further resources are also provided.

Spanish translations are now available for NCSET Parent Briefs entitled "Parenting Postsecondary Students with Disabilities, IDEA 1997 & the IEP for Transition Aged Students, and person centered planning.

3) Resource papers on health care quality The Agency of Health Care Research and Quality has a series of consumer-friendly papers on how to get and assess health care quality at http://www.ahrq.gov/consumer/index.html#plans .  The materials include "Quick Tips:  When Talking to Your Doctor," "Improving Health Care Quality:  A Guide for Patients and Families," and "Ways You Can Help Your Family Prevent Medical Errors."
