CORE (Choices, Options, Resources, Education) Project is a new five-year project of Washington Pave, which is funded from the U. S. Department of Education Rehabilitation Services Administration.
CORE Project will provide training and assistance information to; individuals with disabilities, their parents, guardians, agency representatives, service providers, school personnel and other interested parties about adult services.
A CORE Project Advisory Committee will oversee the work of the project. The advisory committee will be made up of individuals with disabilities, their parents guardians, agency representatives, service providers, school personnel and other interested parties about adult services.
Activities of the CORE Project:
- Network with adult service providers, agencies, parent organizations, and consumer organizations.
- Increase awareness about adult services, funding, and eligibility.
- Provide four Training of the Trainer Workshops each year around the state.
- Expand the Pave web site to include information about adult services.
- Publish bulletins 4 bulletins a year on adult disability services such as self –directed services, independent living centers, employment options, transition from school to work, post-secondary education, SSI. Etc.
- Increase awareness of the Olmstead and court rulings on adult services.
- Develop needed materials in other languages and formats
